How To Get Beautiful Feet At Home with A DIY Pedicure

How To Get Beautiful Feet At Home with A DIY Pedicure

Why regular foot care is important

Each foot is composed of 26 bones, 33 joints, and over 100 muscles, ligaments, and tendons.1 Their job is to propel us forward but also to act as shock absorbers. 1,2 After a day of carrying the full weight of the body around, it’s important to look after your feet. This includes checking them for anything unusual like cuts, blisters or changes to the skin and toenails, as well as washing and drying them regularly and wearing correctly fitted shoes.3

Home nail salon products

You don’t need a trip to the nail salon to take care of your feet. Try using a pumice stone or looking up how to make a homemade foot scrub. Alternatively, you can effortlessly get soft, beautiful feet with the Scholl Velvet Smooth™ Express Pedi. The Velvet Smooth™ Roller head, with long-lasting micro-abrasive particles to help buff away hard skin.4

How to use the Velvet Smooth™ Express Pedi

Start by cleaning your feet, washing and thoroughly drying them before you begin. Then, pick your required intensity roller head and insert it into the device – extra coarse roller head for particularly thick and stubborn hard skin, regular coarse roller head for excess hard skin on the foot and soft-touch roller head for a soft finish.5

Make sure you have already inserted the four AA batteries and switched your Express Pedi on. This should start the roller spinning and with an integrated safety stop, it’s safe and gentle. Now you can allow the roller to move slowly over the areas of dry skin that you want to remove from your feet. Try not to push down too hard against the skin, although there is a built-in safety mechanism that stops the roller from spinning if you accidentally do. Try not to hold it in the same place for longer than 3-4 seconds.5

When you have treated all the hard skin areas, and your feet are starting to feel smoother, switch off your Express Pedi and rinse your feet to remove any excess dry skin.5

To clean your Express Pedi, make sure it is first turned off and then push the button on the side to remove the roller head and rinse the roller head under the tap. To clean the rest of the device, wipe it over with a moist cloth and when both are clean and dry, you can reassemble them.5

Store your Express Pedi away somewhere safe with its protective cover on,5 ready to be used again next time!

How to do a pedicure at home

Get everything you need for your pedicure in one place and put a low, comfortable seat in the bathroom. If you want to listen to music, this is a great time to relax with your favourite songs.

You will need:

Step one: remove hard skin

Get comfy on your seat and treat yourself with the Scholl Velvet Smooth™ Express Pedi. See above for instructions on how to use the Express Pedi.

Step two: nail care

Give your feet a quick wash under warm water and pat your skin dry with a towel. Then trim your softened nails and file the corners.

Step three: moisturise

Apply a moisturiser to your feet.

Step four: remove corns (if necessary)

If you have hard corns on the top of the toes or the balls of the feet, it’s time to use the Scholl 2 in 1 Corn Express Pen – an effective way to treat corns. First use the scraper to gently exfoliate the top layers of the corn to reduce the painful rubbing, providing relief and allowing the advanced liquid to penetrate into the corn. Then apply the advanced liquid using the targeted applicator to soften the corn for an effective treatment.6

Always read the label. Follow the directions for use. If symptoms persist, talk to your health professional.

Step five: add a splash of colour

Apply some nail polish. Start with a clear base coat and use toe separators for a fantastic result. Then add a splash of your favourite colour by sweeping the bristles in long strokes down the centre of your nail toward the tip of your toe, then do the same on the right and left.

Keeping your feet beautiful after a home pedicure

You can keep your feet looking and feeling great by washing and drying them thoroughly every day, ensuring your shoes fit properly and are right for the activity you are doing3 and by applying a moisturiser twice a day.
